Need-based scholarships info for SPI's 2025 Summer Day Camps

SPI is able to offer 50% off NEED-based scholarships in 2025. This is available to any qualifying families at the launch of registration. These scholarships ensure accessibility to any child who wishes to enroll in fun, hands-on summer enrichment and play-based STEAM learning, regardless of household income barriers.
To qualify, families must:
- Reside in Knox County
- Provide information regarding household size and income to staff upon request.
- Meet the following household income guidelines:
3 person household: earn $47,767 yearly, or $3,981 monthly or LESS
4 person household: earn $57,720 yearly, or $4,810 monthly or LESS
5 or more person households: meets 4 person household income qualifications (see above) plus $9,953 yearly for each additional person, or $830 monthly
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP DURING REGISTRATION
If you meet the income criteria specified above, follow these steps WHILE registering and the system will know to automatically apply the proper pricing to the programs in your cart:
1. Select the standard "Regular Price" tuition level when you select session options (even if you are a SPI member -we will not double-discount).
2. On a later screen, once your selections are complete and enrollment info filled out, you'll be presented the option to apply a coupon code at checkout.
3. Enter the coupon code: HelpingHands50
One your registration is confirmed, you'll later be asked to verify eligibility.
FAQs:
What is a household? A household for our purposes means family members living together in a shared home, sharing income and expenses. Roomates living in the household who are not family members should not be accounted for in your eligibility calculations. Family members living the household with indepenent income and expenses should not be account for in your eligibility calculations.
What is combined household income? This means the total income before taxes for everyone in household contributing to shared expenses.
Can I set up an installment payment plan? A payment installment plan can be arranged ONLY for families who qualify for need-based scholarships.
