Science Playspace Initiative (SPI)

Summer Camp Registration 2025

Grade level refers to the grade your child is completing in the 2024-2025 school year.

You can view all the camp descriptions at a glance here (on SPI's website) before beginning registration. Be sure to review the tabs at the tops of this page for registration tips, scholarship info, or to read camp policies.

A parent/guardian must set up their family's Jumbula account and complete registration for children in their care and household ONLY. Do not include other children (including friends, cousins from multiple households, grandchildren not in your custody) in your Jumbula household profile.

SPI Summer Camps 2025

What to expect if this is your first year registering for SPI camps

Our weeklong, half-day camp sessions occur at various outdoor partner venues in our community. These include the Brown Family Environmental Center (Gambier), Ariel-Foundation Park (Mount Vernon), Columbia Elementary (Mount Vernon), and the Knox County Airport.  Some sessions may involve field trips. Camps are led by certified k-12 teachers, assisted by our teenage STEAM Team volunteers and/or SPI staff. As each session approaches, caregivers  will get confirmation of the particular details related to the camp(s) for which their  child is registered. Families should expect that SPI campers will be outdoors for the duration of camp (with few exceptions, like robotics -focused programs). Kid with phones or tablets will be asked to leave them at home or to keep them in a backpack.

The program fee is $65 for the entire week for MOST camps. Families who are already registered with the Ohio ACES program can submit their 2025 camp registration receipts and claims for reimbursement for SPI camps fees, up to that program's allowable limits! We also offer need-based partial scholarships to families who qualify (and can arrange for an installment plan for those families ONLY).

Having trouble registering?

IMPORTANT NOTE: If your registration issue has to do with credit card payment, know that you do NOT have to pay using PayPal! Follow this troubleshooting advice first to bypass Paypal's prompts:

1. Select "Pay by Credit" at checkout.

2. Click on the yellow PayPal logo to advance to the next screen

(they don't present you with an obvious "submit" or "next" button)

3. IGNORE the PayPal login area on the top half of the page. Scroll down to the gray button "Pay with Debit or Credit Card."

We ask that everyone with access to a credit or debit card pay using that method. Cash payment is an option available to those without access to these cards and/or who qualify for our need-based tuition rate (see scholarship tab above).
