Need-based scholarships info for SPI's 2024 Summer Day Camps

SPI is able to offer 50% off NEED-based scholarships in 2024. This is available to ANY qualifying families at the launch of registration thanks to the generosity of our mission partner Ariel Foundation. These scholarships ensure accessibility to any child who wishes to enroll in fun, hands-on summer enrichment and play-based STEAM learning, regardless of household income barriers. 

To qualify, families must: 

- Reside in Knox County

- Provide information regarding household size and income on the follow-up form. 

- Earn an income that is AT or BELOW 150% of the federal poverty guidelines (for their household size) as outlined on the charts found here:

The guidelines are presented BOTH as by annual income and by monthly income for your convenience. 

Scholarship award qualification and amounts

Those whose household income is at 150% of below the federal poverty level for their family size (as indicated on the chart above) will qualify for 50% off the general program fee. This will also apply to additional services (i.e. "lunch bridge" option for specified camps).

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP DURING REGISTRATION

If you meet the income criteria specified above, follow these steps WHILE registering and the system will know to automatically apply the proper pricing to the programs in your cart: 

- Select the standard "Regular Price" tuition level when you select session options. 

- On a later screen, once your selections are complete and enrollment info filled out, you'll be presented to apply a coupon code at checkout.

- Enter the coupon code: HelpingHands50

- One your registration is confirmed, you'll later be asked to verify eligibility. 

FAQs:

What is a household? A household for our purposes means family members living together in a shared home.

What is combined household income? This means the total income before taxes for everyone in household contributing to shared expenses.

Can I set up an installment payment plan? A payment installment plan can be arranged ONLY for families who qualify for need-based scholarships.
